Rafiq ("we", "our", or "the app") is an Islamic education application that helps Muslims read the Quran, track prayers, learn about Islam, and grow spiritually. We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal data.

2. Information We Collect

We collect minimal information necessary to provide our services:

• Account Information: Email address and display name when you create an account (optional — the app works without an account).
• Usage Data: Quran reading progress, prayer tracking, bookmarks, and learning progress — stored locally on your device and synced to your account if signed in.
• Location Data: Used only to calculate accurate prayer times for your city. We do not store or share your location.
• Device Information: Basic device info for crash reporting and app improvement.
• Advertising ID: For non-subscribers only, to serve and measure ads (see the Advertising section below).

3. How We Use Your Information

• Calculate prayer times based on your location
• Save and sync your Quran reading progress
• Provide personalized learning experience
• Improve app performance and fix bugs
• Show ads to non-subscribers to keep the app free

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase services. We use industry-standard encryption and security measures to protect your information. Reading progress and preferences are stored locally on your device and optionally synced to the cloud.

5. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Google Firebase: Authentication, data storage, and analytics
• Google Gemini AI: Powers the "Ask Rafiq" Islamic Q&A feature (your questions are processed but not permanently stored)
• Quran.com API: Quran text, translations, and audio recitations
• Google AdMob: Serves ads to non-subscribers (see the Advertising section). Premium subscribers see no ads.

6. Advertising

Rafiq is free and supported by ads for non-subscribers. We use Google AdMob to display ads. To serve and measure ads, Google and its advertising partners may collect and use your device's Advertising ID and related information (such as approximate/coarse location and ad interactions) for advertising and marketing, analytics, and fraud prevention, security and compliance purposes. This advertising identifier may be shared with Google and its partners for these purposes.

Premium subscribers — including users within the free trial — do not see ads, and no advertising identifier is used for advertising while a subscription is active.

You can reset or delete your Advertising ID, or opt out of ad personalization, in your device settings: Settings → Google → Ads. Learn more about how Google uses this data at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.

7. Children's Privacy

Rafiq includes a Kids Module designed for children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without parental consent. The Kids Module works with local storage only and does not require account creation. Ads are never shown in the Kids Module or in any prayer, Quran, or family section of the app.

8. Data Sharing

Apart from the advertising identifier described in the Advertising section above (used only for non-subscribers), we do NOT sell, trade, or share your personal data with third parties for marketing purposes. Your data may otherwise be shared only:

• With your consent
• To comply with legal obligations
• With service providers (Firebase) necessary to operate the app

9. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data
• Delete your account and all associated data
• Export your data
• Opt out of analytics
• Reset or opt out of your Advertising ID (via device settings)

10. Data Retention

We retain your data as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all associated data will be permanently removed within 30 days.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
